We recently had a fascinating discussion with G. Thomas Couser about disability studies, life writing, the social model of disability and more.
Professor Couser, a scholar of disability life writing, is the founding director of the Disability Studies program at Hofstra University. He is the author of the upcoming Gale Literature Criticism entry on the Disability Memoir Boom and the co-editor of Disability Experiences, a comprehensive two-volume guide to life writing by persons with disabilities. Both projects were produced by Layman Poupard for Gale Cengage.
